Dec 22, 2019 · Although thrust bearing run on a thin film of oil; just like radial journal (connecting rod and main) bearings; they cannot support nearly as much load. While radial bearings can carry loads measured in thousands of pounds per square inch of projected bearing area; thrust bearings can only support loads of a few hundred pounds per square inch.

Apr 13, 2017 · The stock throw out bearing is an NTN which is a quality Japanese brand. SKF is a good Swedish brand. Both are quality brands so you can't say one will be better than the other on brand alone. It may be the bearing is under designed for our cars. What is it that actually fails on the bearing? Jan 18, 2009 · If I were you, if you don't mind the noise, I would just leave it until the clutch need replacement, because the labour for a clutch replacement and a bearing replacement is the same, no point paying for the same job twice. Usually the throwout bearing is just noisy due to lack of lube but doesn't cause a problem with the performance of the clutch.

A bad throw out bearing will usually make noise with the clutch pedal dperessed and go away when you lift the pedal back up. Assuming the clutch is adjusted correctly, the throw out bearing will only contact the fingers on the pressure plate when the pedal is depressed.
